Goddess of Night

by Weather Veins

millicow Weather Veins' unbelievable compositions take one on a spiritual journey, often putting our deepest thoughts and feelings into words better than we can.

The percussion, guitar, and bass are reminiscent of Dreadnought while the singing adds flavors of of Anathema, blending into a beautiful style I never could have imagined. Minimal, yet complex. The creativity is abundant here.

I set my favorite track as Begin, but The Owl Song is a very close second as is Goddess of Night. Favorite track: Begin.

Calling away My changeling heart Wanting to flee This empty world Calling away To distant shores Secrets in my blood Yearn to be heard Spill my veins in spiral weave Painting my incantation To ages lost, ages that have never been Raise my will against the tide Embrace my heart's burning seed Pay this price of flesh and bone Flesh and bone All is not as it seems Web of illusion conceals And lulls into uneasy sleep Ill-haunted scenes Defiantly I lucid dream But I fear my strength is leaving me I've fallen into this world I've fallen into this world I've fallen into this world Please release me Guide me Heal me Release me I'm waiting for the sign I'm searching for the way

There is a willow of graceful limb Dancing by the river's edge. Hesitant, yet compelled from within By a sap-filled heart that sings: Songs of sadness, fear, and pain Songs of laughter, joy, and play Songs that vibrate from root to branch And drift away Forever On the river Perch on the water's edge And have faith, willow tree: The earth wants you here. Sink roots into fertile soil Drink deep the life Pulsing through this earthly coil Bide your time Heed your inner counsel Inside is a shining seed Waiting to grow Grow and become whole You're not condemned to be alone Sink your roots deep into soil and stone The world needs your wise dancing soul

Count the stars Before they fall From the sky Read their light Learn the lore Of the night Drift in gloom Fade into dreams And far away Count the stars Let them guide You aright We don’t know What might be What we are Mystery We don’t know What life is Or where we will go When it ends Goddess of night spread your veil Grant relief from the sun Goddess of night shape the way Sow your secrets in our souls

If you do not give in just once in your life You will never truly know what life is If you never shed your armored skin You will wither and die within If you resent, rage, fear, or struggle in vain Let your stagnation be the doorway to change Unwind the web Sort through its tangled ends Unbind the thread Weave it anew again The wheel of change ever spins Cycles complete and begin again Rolling with tides is an art, my friends, Release your seed-self to the wind

The Owl Song 18:11
Spread your wings And fly into my mind’s eye Ride the wind And glide into inner silence Owl stand tall Noble sight Regal born Mistress of the night Owl guide me Safely through This gloomy world Spread your wings And fly into my mind’s eye Swoop and claim Carry me away From who I think I should be I will not let you go You must make it through Find the courage to overcome Your self-inflicted wounds You must embrace your pain Or be lost and doomed To sing a cold refrain With no hope of being renewed So let it go, all of it Down into the darkest pits Rend your flesh, dissolve your bones Rebirth and death are one You must face the truth Let my love open you Pain and joy are ball and chain Freedom awaits within you So let it go, all of it Down into the darkest pits Rend your flesh, dissolve your bones Rebirth and death are one Minerva Hear my call To be here now To be here now To be here now Minerva I light the torch In your name In your name In your name Spread your wings And fly into my mind’s eye Swoop and claim Carry me away From who I think I should be Paradoxical it seems Union of opposites you need Pass through the gates of entropy The story never ends
8.
Begin 07:12
Forests burning To ash, to meaningless end. Oceans choking On oil, acid, plastic. Earth raped and fractured, Poisoned and parched. Sky soaked in carbon Weather turned violent. Look what we've done Look what we allow in our name Look what we've done What have we become? Extinction run rampant Humans life's enemy. Wildness broken Enslaved to technology. Fueled by greed and injustice, Contempt. The needs of the many Bent to the greed of the few. The machine owns us all Despite what we might will The machine corrupts us all How can we break this standstill? Heed the call to Action that stems from within. Refuse to sit by, despairing, As the world ends. Look for the hope and The beauty that dwells in all things. Courage is trusting that Even small deeds have meaning. Strive with all we have Even if we cannot win Better to try and to fail Than never to begin Begin
